What I love about Sassy

I'm going to do a new thing here....the next 5 posts will be about one of my horses specifically. I will talk about my favorite things about them, their story with me, etc. This post is for...*drumroll*
SASSY!!!! If you couldn't tell by the title...

Sassy was born in April, 2007, a beautiful chesnut filly with a big, bright star. I was originally going to name her Jessi, after my friend Jessica who was spending the night at my house when she was born. Then it went to Pancake, then to Sputnik, then she kicked me when she was 4 days old, and Sassy stuck. Sassy has always been a trouble maker. When she was about 2 weeks old, Dream was getting her feet done and Sassy was running around the barn. She slipped on the concrete and kicked the ferriers tools everywhere. When she was a year, she fell in our underground pool, and almost gave my grandma a heart attack.

Good things about Sassy:
Bombproof
Not mare-ish
Never tries to agrivate another horse at drill
Doesn't kick
Very curious
Soft mouthed
Great stamina
Easiest horse to bathe
Loves water!!!
Great barrel conformation with color to boot
Fast!!!

Bad:
Not the worlds greatest feet
Seems to get hurt a lot
Other horses get irritated with her "cuddles"
She ripped her tail out
Rubbed her mane out
I'm still fixing my hard hands, so sometimes soft mouth = accidental rear.
Likes to get in the water troughs and kill the fish
Has a thing about getting hurt
If she were to ever have a foal, we would have to cut her open to get the foal out...talk about that in a min.
There is a reason we named her Sassy. Nuff said.

Sassy's whole birthing issue is quite interesting. I came outside one day before school to feed, and Sassy was walking bowlegged. I found blood on her back legs, and I looked at her "lady part". It was red, bloody, and cut open at the bottom. I called my mom, who was in Colorado, and she called the vet to come look at it. Sassy got 8 stitches, turns out she ripped a two square inch section off her..lady part. It healed very well, and you can't see the scar unless you look inside of her. The vet was very suprised with how well it healed, but she would still need to be cut open for the proper room for a foal.

Repo, Peyton's filly, and Sassy. They are both the same age, and both rose greys. Look at the contrast in their grey staging though!!! Repo is a Thoroughbred, and Sassy is 1/4 Thoroughbred, 3/4 Quarter Horse.

Can I please have that cracker???

Sassy is truely an amazing horse, and I really don't think I would have seen her full potential if it wasn't for Charles Black. He really helped me with her! After really looking over what she is good at, and what she is built and bred to do, I really think she could excell at barrel racing. She's got big eyes, big nostrils, big hip, strong legs, some cowyness and a easy to flex neck. I really can't wait to get her going on something she will be able to prove. She may not be registered (She can be, but the owner of the stud wasn't the actual owner like he said he was), but she can kick butt!!!!

My fault, as usual.

Coming home from returning Peyton's tux on sunday, my car started to get really loud about a quarter mile from home. I pull in the drive way and ask my dad to look at it. We drove it around the neighborhood, and he tried to floor it and it just didn't do anything except get really loud. He checked the transmission fluid and it was empty. So he put about a quarter of a bottle in, which is weird, since Peyton puts like 3 bottles in his, but of course his is bigger, but not that much.
Going to school today, my car wouldn't even go over 35, so when I got to school I popped the hood, and nobody really told me how to check it, so when I pulled it out, it wasn't even slightly red, so I put some more fluid in it. When I got home, I told Peyton I put more in it, and he said that I needed to put more in it. When I went out to check it, my dad pulled in the driveway, looked at, and said I over filled it.
What. The. Frick.
They freaking expect me to know what the hell I am doing under a car, I didn't even find out where the tranmission was until I asked my mom what the big hump in the front of the car was for. And I get chewed out for over filling it, well excuse me for not freaking knowing how much to put in there, maybe you should have TAUGHT ME before TELLING ME. Gah.
Oh, ha, my dad just walked in and told me my car was running perfectly fine. Yeah, I know...*speaks to self* because I put transmission fluid in. HA.
Your funny.

prom Prom PROM! :D

Prom was soooo much fun!!!! I got my hair done at 12:00 that day, and it amazingly stood solid all day. Peyton came over around three and we fixed his hair as best as we could. We got ready and left around 4:45. We ate at a cheap Mexican restraunt called El Chico's, and they gave us a free dish for our "special night". Every one was staring at us like "they do know this isn't a fancy restraunt, right? There's no need for dresses and ties.."
We left there and got to the place at around 6:30 or 7, so we walked across the street to Bass Pro Shop. The Bedlam baseball game was this evening, so OSU and OU fans were walking around everywhere. We were getting lots of winks and thumbs up from OSU fans, since our outfits were orange and white. The OU fans were giving us lots of dirty looks though!! Haha it's like they thought we were there for the game!!!
We were one of the first people to get into the building when the finally decided to open the doors for prom. They checked our drivers liscense (to make sure we are who we said we are), and we hung up our coats. Let the party begin!!!
Me and Peyton probably had the most fun out of everyone there. Mainly, because we didn't care if we sucked at dancing or not. We were just having fun! I introduced Peyton to all of my friends, and they all really liked him. One girl was like "Is this the one I approved of?" and I was like "yes....I only have one...?"
Prom started at 8, and stupid Kasey had dinner reservations at 7:30 at a very high class restraunt (so they got there at like 9:30). He dinner was around $35 dollars, Peyton and I spent $19 on ours total. What makes me laugh the most though, is Kasey spent $402 on her dress, and she was only there a few hours. I spent less than 50 on the materials for mine, and I had way more fun then her. HA! :)
It really doesn't matter how well you dance, or how "sexy" you look when you grind. Your there to make memories for yourself, not for the ones around you. Live it up, you'll remember the fun forever.

Oh, Peyton like a good boy decided not to drive his truck...mainly becuase Jenny gets like 8 miles to the gallon, she's filthy, her paint is less than desirable...etc. Haha:) I still love Jenny though, but his mom's truck "Shirley" as I call her, was cleaner, and his parent's pay for the gas in that truck:P

Prom is coming up...getting butterflies but oh-so excited!

Prom is this weekend. I'm soo excited!!!!!
My dress is suuper cute (or at least I think so...and that's all that matters!!)
I got all of my jewlery on Saturday. I got a whole bunch of little braclets and a big pearl necklace.
I still need:
Shoes
Strapless bra
Nails
Hair (12:00pm day of Prom)
AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Me, Peyton and Kasey are going to pick up his tux at the mall on Wed., then while we are there look for shoes for me and Kasey. Then, we will go back to one of our houses to try to figure out what to do with Peyton's hair!!!

I'm just praying everything gets put together in time and everything will go according to plan. Of course, I have lots of back up plans, but let's hope I don't have to use any of them.

"After-Party"- eat at Waffle House (LOL) and crash at Kasey's.
Then apparently she wants to wash her truck and put it on Facebook...okayyyy then..

I will try to post pictures as soon as they are available!:)

As for horsie news..uh....Yesterday (or was it the day before?) I rode Sassy without a bridle, she did freaking AMAZING. I was really suprised! Made me feel like Stacy Westfall haha. Then after that I rode Rosie bareback, but my butt was reallllly sore for some reason so I had to cut that short. Then today I rode Dream, she did really good too:) One thing I love about that horse, is how super sensitive she is. I can make her sidepass at the trot in a circle! I felt so proud of her.

Lucky you guys!!!

A lot of the blogs I have been looking at have said something about the weather, and most of them have to do with RAIN.
That.
Is.
No.
Fair.
!!!!!!!!.
We have been without rain for several weeks, and they think this drought is going to last a while longer. I have drill practice tonight, and the dirt is just gonna KILL me. I'm taking a shower afterwards, thats for sure!!! BLECH. Plus, it's going to be verrrrry windy. Dust + Wind = Not a very happy Pepper.
Dear Dust.
Go away. I'm tired of cleaning up your mess and making commercials with that stupid feather duster..
Thanks
Swiffer

Ferrier came out today HURRAY!!!

My horses have been in need of feet work. It's literally been 6 months since their feet have been trimmed, but they never needed it!!! The horses feet looked really good all winter and it wasn't until March that they started to go a little downhill.
It took our ferrier about an hour and a half to do all five of the horses. They were all really good (except Sassy lol). Matt had to take breaks inbetween horses because he did something to his back. He laughed at Rebel's feet and was like "there is no way I can get those two to match!!!". Rebel puts more weight on his front left, so the heel on his left is waaaay lower than his right, its also wider and has a steeper angle to it.
After that we took Rosie and Sassy for a short ride around the pasture. Sassy was really spunky and my mom had a hoot controlling her, and Rosie was rrrreally lazy. Matt is trying to get me into break away roping, we'll see how that goes!! Haha:)
I registered for the Oklahoma Foundation Quarter Horse show in April. I showed all year with them in 2009, then took a break. This year is going to be a lot tougher, I'm entering in 2 more different classes. Working cow horse, and cutting:) I'm not sure how Rosie will do in the cutting, but its still points towards Versitility!!! I'm going to try my hardest to win the saddle, even if it pisses my best friend off. Hey, that's the name of the game!
I worked Dusty today, and he is really cowy!! Jasmine (my Australian Shepard) was running around the roundpen while I was lunging him, and he would dart toward her and follow her every move!!! He's going to be a great horse with great looks!:)
Me and Rosie, running poles in 2009:)

My mind is on the fritz.

I'm going in for an interview at White Water today at 5. I'm freaking nervous!!! Mainly because of the STUPID dream I had last night....

Me, my dad, my brother and my mom were driving through the woods and we came across this huge trailer that was abandoned. It was like a crane kind of trailer, and my dad wanted it so he hooked it up to my little S10 and drove away. The rest of us went across this old wooden bridge to an old hotel. The owners met us outside and handed us the deed. We were like "uhm, okay." We walked inside and the whole place was falling apart, but there were slides made out of beautiful tiles that slid out into a beautiful pool. There was also lots of random dead people walking around, but apparently that's normal and we weren't bothered by it. Then, I was walking around the state fair grounds, who knows why. I was looking for the building for the interviews and The Count from Seseme Street was trying to direct me. I went inside this one building, and there was a line so I thought "okay this must be the place." As the line got smaller, I realised this was for quicky baptisms. I ran out but was caught by a large african american man. He scuffled me into a large church, where he was the preacher. We were all wearing pinoneer aged dresses, and I'm doubting this mans religious background, as the hymn was "Nooooooo Body beats Aarrons no body, noo bodd-ayyyy! No body Beats Aarrons no body!" Yeah. CAN I JUST TAKE MY FREAKING INTERVEIW!!!!!!

And believe me, this is actaully one of my more "normal" dreams. You don't want to hear about my more...strange dreams.
